Tahoe City, California is nestled within the mountains of Northern California. Our town boasts an exceptional community that consistently contributes to our thriving tourism industry. The majority of our residents are employed in various capacities to support the substantial annual influx of approximately 15 million tourists. As a church, our mission is to actively contribute to our community by demonstrating our presence, offering love and support, and embodying the teachings of Jesus through engaging and consistent involvement.

An intern at FBCTC, will become an integral component of our mission by participating in our children’s ministry programs, collaborating with senior members of our congregation, and assisting our community outreach coordinator.

This internship will involve working with our children’s ministry programs, specifically our A+ Program and Sunday children’s ministry sessions. Within the A+ Program, they will collaborate with our staff to foster relationships with children and their parents, facilitating the teaching of Jesus’ teachings and establishing a solid foundation for their spiritual growth. On Sundays, they will participate in the children’s ministry program, working alongside the children’s ministry director to coordinate events that are accessible to our community members.

Additionally, they will support the older members of our congregation by providing a listening ear, offering assistance, or working alongside our pastor to deliver meals and groceries. Many of our senior members are isolated individuals who have experienced the loss of a spouse or have emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic with apprehension about fully engaging with the community. Our commitment is to continue nurturing these relationships, ensuring that these members feel valued and loved.

This internship will also involve collaborating with our community outreach coordinator to plan and execute community events. This will encompass publicizing our events and actively participating in other community gatherings where opportunities for connection and relationship building arise. Many individuals in our community are hesitant to attend church due to past hurts or misconceptions. Our objective is to serve as a beacon of what the church should be, fostering relationships and building trust with our community members.

 

If you join our team, you’ll receive:

• $3000 stipend for 12 weeks

• $200 monthly grocery stipend

• Free housing 

• Coordination with your university for you to obtain internship credits

• Opportunities for free skiing and snowboarding during the Spring semester
