Scott has served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Tahoe since 2012, but his journey of ministry has taken him far beyond the mountains. Before arriving in Tahoe, he served as a resort minister in Girdwood, Alaska, and spent seven years as chaplain at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. In each of these places, Scott has been drawn to those on the margins of life—people overlooked, hurting, or searching for meaning—and has dedicated himself to helping them encounter the hope and love found in Jesus.

Scott earned a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Memphis and a Master of Divinity from Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. He has also spent over a decade teaching skiing, combining his love for the outdoors with his desire to connect with and mentor others.

Whether on the slopes, hiking a quiet trail, or kayaking across Lake Tahoe, Scott’s life reflects a passion for adventure, relationship, and faithful ministry. He is always happy to meet for a cup of coffee to hear about your life, and he is available to officiate weddings. At the heart of everything he does is a simple, unwavering commitment: helping people know what this Jesus business is really all about.
